Opening and Closing:

If you arrive prior to 7:00am your child should be dropped off in the Gazelle Room. At 7:00am an Elephant teacher will be in and available for drop-offs at that time. The Elephant Room will close at 5:00pm at which time the children will move to the Gazelle Room for the remainder of the day.

Language and Literacy

Children at this age and development are learning language at a very rapid rate and we will support this new skill everyday with discussions, songs, and rhymes to help their vocabulary explode. Books are very important and we want to start the children out on the right step to encourage the reading habit.

New books are introduced weekly and children are encouraged to explore picture and early literacy books throughout each day. Each week the children will visit the library to explore even more books!offering many opportunities to play with sensory materials, writing materials, and small manipulatives.

Physical Development

Planned activities, outdoor play, and gym time are incorporated into our daily routine. We encourage children to reach new heights and try new skills to enhance their rapidly developing large motor skills. Small motor skills are also encouraged by offering many opportunities to play with sensory materials, writing materials, and small manipulatives.

Potty Training

Interest in the potty is a very exciting time. Every child moves at their own pace and we will be sensitive to their abilities and interest in the potty. Communication during this time is the greatest tool. Let us know how your child has been doing at home, what techniques you have tried, and feel free to ask any questions. Onesies, overalls, and belts tend to make this new experience difficult. Keep in mind that if your child wants to try the potty several times and becomes moreindependent, those items could be hard for your child to transition into training mode successfully.

Daily and Weekly Notes

Please be sure to read your child's daily sheet each night when you pick up your child. The daily notes tell you about your child's daily activities, demeanor, and other important notes to remember. We ask that you initial each daily note so we know that the information was received. If you have comments, suggestions, or questions, please feel free to write us through the Creative Curriculum Journal or give us a call during our quiet time (12:30 - 2:30). We will try to journal our parents every week through the Creative Curriculum, including photos and observations. Each week a weekly newsletter will be sent to your email through Creative Curriculum.
